Minutes Pack 616 Parents Planning Meeting
Monday May 7, 2007, 6:30 – 7:45 pm

DISCUSSION TOPICS

Pinewood Derby probably will continue as a March event unless we find someone who is free to run it in Jan./Feb.  District races allow more car modifications than the BSA guidelines we follow at Pack 616.  Thus there is no incentive to schedule our races early.

Spring Recruiting for new Tiger dens is Tuesday May 15 at 7pm in the larger of the portable buildings behind the main PUMC chapel.  Current scouts should wear uniforms to school that day as part of recruiting.

Bridging Ceremony is Monday May 21.  Mary will reserve a gazebo and the WSE school for rainout backup. Webelos will greet younger scouts as they cross bridge.

Service Project will be for scouts to bring toiletry items to the Bridging Ceremony on May 21. Troop 616 is coordinating and they have asked for our contributions. The items will be sent to our overseas service men and women in care packages.  Details in separate email.

Summer Evening Camp training will be in late May. Patti S. will send information.

Three summer Pack 616 events to be held on Saturdays if possible:

1. Dave Dratler and Den 1 will organize Ice Skating tentatively on June 9.
2. Gary Ray and Den 12 will set up a NT Swim party in July maybe in the morning when the pools are lightly attended.  Alternatively they can do an evening event with families eating dinner at the pool.
3. Carl Sedita and Den 11 will put on a Bike Rally in August.

Connie Toy-Ng has taken some T-shirt orders and will order more T-shirts to fill a deficiency we have in the small child sizes. Printing of shirts will be soon.

Karen Carothers is our new Training chair.  I would like to get her email for the Pack distribution list.

Mary would like to see our leaders taking the Wood Badge training this Fall and will help us learn more about this special badge.

Need to find a new Committee Chairperson from the Pack to begin the process of planning out the 2007/2008 Pack calendar. Look within your Dens.

Parents Planning Meeting is usually held first Monday of the month at PUMC. All Pack 616 parents are welcome.
