2007 Fall Campout - Stephen F. Austin State Park PDF Print

The weather is looking great. High's in the low 80's and Low's in the low 50's. It sounds like perfect camping weather, but you should always "Be Prepared!" Check the weather, Friday night should be a great opportunity to do some star glazing. We have fifteen campsites reserved for Friday and Saturday nights. All attendees should have completed and returned the medical and consent forms. If not, please contact your Den Leader immediately. Medical and permission forms can be accessed under the Links | Forms section.

Calling all actors! Every den should prepare a skit or song for the Pack Campfire - that’s less time that you have to listen to the Cubmaster sing! Wolves, Bears, and Webelos - this is your time to show your stuff! (Don’t forget that this is also an easy and fun way to earn an Arrow Point). Tigers - if you liked the Dewberry Farm campfire, expect much more - this is where Cub Scouts shine! Feel free to contribute a song or story.

On Friday night (11/2), Den 10, 11 and 12 (the Wolf dens) will perform a Flag Retirement Ceremony. This is a major part of Achievement 2 of the Wolf Badge (outdoor flag ceremony), but also is a unique ceremony that may not have been seen by any current Pack 616 Cub Scout. Most have agreed to drive up Friday, set up tent, and drive back late that same evening to make the Saturday morning soccer and other events. Stephen F. Austin is ~50 miles, so it is not totally painful.

On Sunday morning, Karen Elkins has arranged for the Pack to take part in a conservation project . The boys would search for, clean and hang back up bird boxes, plus hang additional new bird boxes. If you are interested, please bring along a battery powered drill. This will fulfill one of the requirements the Cub Scout World Conservation Award (Wolf, Bear or Webelos) or the Leave No Trace Award (all cub scouts).

Have FUN!!
